Upcoming changes to our offerings

In 2022, we are proud to have served 500,000 meals to our customers all across the US. Thank you so much for your continued love and support, we are truly grateful to all of you.

We also continue to listen closely to feedback from this community and make changes from time to time, in line with our core values of clean food, sustainability and convenience. Over the past year, we've brought back customer favorite dishes (hello Schezwan Fried Rice!), removed ice packs from our shipments, and made flavor improvements to over 15 recipes based on feedback. The changes detailed below are part of our continuing efforts to serve this community in the best way possible.

Starting January 1, 2023, our meal kits will no longer come with complimentary sides (rotis, chutney, sambar and papad). These sides will continue to be available for purchase at an affordable price point, but will not part of the base offering. This impacts all orders, including orders of current customers with active meal plans. We encourage current customers to visit My Account -> Subscriptions -> Change Meals to add back in sides to your plan if needed, in order to avoid any disruption to your meal planning.

This was a tough decision, but one that we put a lot of thought into. For a while now, a significant portion of our customers have been requesting that we exclude sides when shipping their orders. When we talked to more customers about this, we learned that a lot of the sides were getting thrown out because people preferred to make or purchase their own rotis or eat their meals with rice.

Food wastage is something that we take very seriously as part of our sustainability goals. While we were accommodating ad hoc requests to substitute sides with more main dishes, the operational complexity of it became overwhelming. As a result, we decided to not offer sides as part of the meals but make them available as add-ons instead.

Our primary value proposition revolves around our main dishes - saving the hours of planning, shopping and cooking it takes to make a Dal Makhani or a Sambar Idly. We will be doubling down our focus here, and bringing more varieties and main dishes that have been requested by our community in the convenient 5-minute format.

Lastly, this change enables us to continue offering our 5-minute meals at an affordable price point even as inflationary pressure mounts up on all of us, businesses and individuals alike. We are committed to keeping our prices the same and we hope you will continue supporting us in our mission to make authentic vegetarian and vegan meals readily accessible to everyone around the world. (Hint hint - our meal kits will soon be available in Canada, tell your friends!).

If you have any thoughts or questions regarding these changes, don't hesitate to reach out to us at hello@thecuminclub.com. We look forward to serving you even more delicious meals in 2023 and beyond!
